Natural Borax

Did you know that most Borax available, is produced synthetically? The Borax that we stock at Eco Warehouse is an authentic pure and natural borax harvested from ancient deep Mediterranean deposits, free of fragrances and any additional chemicals, so it has many health benefits and uses.

Borax is an ideal, eco friendly alternative to harsh chemicals with a wide range of uses in and around the home. Use Borax:

·       Soften Laundry – Add 1 cup to your washing load with the detergent or rinse cycle to freshen and soften your laundry.

·       Dishwasher Powder – Mix 2 parts Borax, 2 parts Washing Soda, 1 part Citric Acid and 1 part salt to make your own powder. Add 1 Tablespoon to the dishwasher and if you need an extra kick for a particularly dirty load, add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the powder before turning on the wash.

·       Get rid of the musty smell from towels, gym clothes, kitchen tea towels by washing them with a cup of Borax.

·       General Purpose Spray Cleaner – Mix between 2 Tablespoons with 2 Cups of hot water into a spray bottle and shake to mix and dissolve.

·       Toilet Cleaning Bom – Drop in 1 cup of Borax into the toilet bowl and leave it overnight. In the morning, scrub the bowl with the brush and effortlessly clean the toilet to a “like new” state!

·       Non-Abrasive Paste Cleaner – Mix ¼ cup of lemon juice with 1 cup of Borax to make a paste, and then use a cloth or sponge to rub of stains from bench tops, baths, stainless steel or porcelain.

·       Pest Insecticide – Sprinkle Borax on animal bedding, carpets or areas infested with fleas. Leave for 10 minutes and then vacuum up the corpses!

·       Ant Dust – Sprinkle on ant highways to stop them in their tracks.

·       Mould Inhibitor – Make a thick paste with water tat will stick to the walls and tiles of the shower or bath area, and apply it to mouldy areas and then let it dry overnight or until it has completely dry out. Then brush off and rinse,

·       Drain Un-blocker – Stick ½ a cup of Borax down the block drain, followed by 2 cups of boiling water. Let it do its thing for 15 minutes and then run the tap to flush it out. Good for general maintenance of drains to keep clear and flowing as well.

·       Preserving Flowers - Fresh-cut flowers of many varieties can be preserved with the help of borax! Borax removes moisture from blossoms and leaves, preventing the wilting that would normally occur. Mix one part borax with two parts cornmeal, and sprinkle the mixture into the bottom of a box. Place your flower(s) in the box, then sprinkle more of the borax and cornmeal mixture over the top. Cover the box and let it sit for about 2 weeks to let the flowers dry.

·       Better Home Made Candles - If you make your own candles, treat the wicks by soaking them in a solution of salt and borax to help reduce ash and eliminate smoke problems.

·       Bath or Foot Soak – Make your own mineral spring soak at home by adding 300g of Borax to your bath (approx. 100L of water). This will result in a concentration of Boron equivalent to natural hot springs known as “miracle waters”. Add 15g to 5 litres of nice warm water to get the same concentration for your foot bath. Try bathing a few times a week in your own miracle waters to get some relief from your aches and pains.

These uses alone are enough to merit Borax as an ideal substitute to harmful chemicals which can cause havoc with our health and environment. Borax is also an essential trace element for humans, and being low in this mineral could allow a host of chronic diseases to develop. It has been said to bring relief to muscle and bone conditions such as arthritis, and like Magnesium, many people are very low in Boron.

Beeswax is an indispensible natural raw ingredient that is used as a thickener or emulsiyer agent for many cosmetic products like creams, lotions and body butters.

Beeswax can also be used in a variety of other applications, such as making food wraps, polishing furniture and making pure beeswax candles.

Note that this wax has been refined, which means it has been melted and filtered, which results in a wax which does not have a strong honey odur or the traditional yellow colouring. This is desirable for many applications where discolouration is a problem.

It is also useful in helping to reduce the appearance of scars, hives, rashes, fine lines and wrinkles, whilst strengthening, protecting and regenerating the skin. Shea butter can be used on its own directly on the skin, but is also commonly used in skin care products. As an industry favourite, it is used in a variety of applications ranging from Lip balms, Body masks, Creams, Lotions, Body butters, Hair care products, Liquid and Bar Soaps, Bath oils, Suncare products, Baby products, and the list goes on.

Dead Sea waters are unique, having a total salt concentration that is 10 times higher than ocean water, reaching 33% versus 3%. The composition of the brines (the salt water solution) is also unique, comprising magnesium, potassium and calcium chlorides, in addition to a high concentration of bromides.

Like other therapeutic salts such as Epsom Salt and Magnesium Chloride, the minerals of Dead Sea Mineral Salt are absorbed transdermally (through the skin). Scientific research suggests this can be the most efficient absorption method.

100% Pure Jojoba Oil Australian ($ per 100g)

by Weigh & Pay Smorgasbord
$8.50

or make 4 interest-free payments of $2.13 AUD fortnightly with Afterpay More info

Jojoba oil is a unique natural moisturizer for face and body for the whole family. Gentle enough for baby’s skin, perfect for mature old leather bags!!

Jojoba oil is unique and is actually a liquid wax that acts in an almost identical way to the skin’s sebum – to control the moisture levels in the skin to keep it smooth, supple and moisturised.

Your skin recognises Jojoba wax as similar to its own natural wax ester.  As a result, skin pores remain open, allowing jojoba to penetrate beyond the epidermis layer (top layer) to effectively moisturise and maintain healthy looking skin.

Jojoba is naturally antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and hypoallergenic, so it is used to soothe a wide range of skin conditions.

Our Jojoba Oil is grown by Australian Farmers, in Australia, and bought in bulk, and does not come in fancy little glass bottles pretending to be some expensive, rare miracle formula. It is pure Australian Jojoba Oil, unrefined and unpackaged.

You decide how much you would like, and we dispense it into a leak proof shipping safe pouch (plastic unfortunately!) and send it out. Don’t pay for glamourous photoshoots, marketing and extravagant packaging…it doesn’t make the product any better than what it already is!

Ground Coconut Soap ($ per 100g )

The Coconuts are from an Organic and Sustainable source, and production in the purest form made simply with Organic Coconut Oil, Lye and Water. No fragrance, no added enzymes, no phosphates, fillers, acids and no sodium lauryl. Coconut oil has natural soothing properties, and is ideal for the most sensitive skin as it does not contain anything to irritate the skin, nor cause allergies, nor aggravate existing allergies such as dermatitis & eczema, it is completely biodegradable, eco friendly, and dissolves so easily even in just warm water making it the ideal choice for cleansing, laundry & hand washing.

Some people have already ditched commercial washing detergents, and instead grate a bar of soap, or even buy soap flakes and make their own washing/cleaning powders, which can be a lot of fun, rewarding, and saves a bundle on store bought chemical detergents, however, some don’t have the time to resort to grating soap bars. In any case, both grated soap bars and soap flakes can be difficult to dissolve, so why not make the switch to Ground Coconut Soap.

Bulk Fractionated Coconut Oil ($ per 100g)

by Weigh & Pay Smorgasbord
$3.50

or make 4 interest-free payments of $0.88 AUD fortnightly with Afterpay More info

Fractionated Coconut Oil is coconut oil that has had the long-chain fatty acids removed via hydrolysis and steam distillation. Just this one change makes the oil liquid at room temperature, and extends the product's shelf life. You will often hear fractionated coconut oil referred to as MCT oil or FCO. It is much lighter and non-greasy compared to standard coconut oil.

It is used widely in the skincare industry and used to make hair oil, lotions, body creams, lip butter and many other products. It is also used to make soap. You can also use fractionated coconut oil for culinary purposes. It does not become rancid easily, and so you can store it for quite some time. Since this oil can withstand high heat, it can be used for cooking safely. It is also devoid of trans-unsaturated fatty acids, a type of unsaturated fat and using it for cooking is good for the cardiac health.

FCO is also commonly used for massage oil and as a base oil for aromatherapy essential oil blends, due to its non-greasy nature and due to the fact that it resists going rancid due to light and heat, making Fractionated Coconut Oil, a very versatile and hence popular oil.
