Natural Homemade All-Purpose Surface Cleaner
When it comes to cleaning your home, it can pay in many ways to take a more natural approach. The products you use to clean surfaces, wash your dishes, wash your clothes, make contact with your skin or are breathed in due to being released into the air. Which is why switching to natural cleaning products can do a world of good, for your health and your family’s health.
It is also important to remember that the products we use in our homes will eventually make their way into our waterways. So, it is worthwhile taking a few more minutes to make your own eco-friendly products in order to ensure we aren’t polluting our precious water sources.

Homemade All-Purpose Surface Cleaner
Ingredients:
Castile Soap Surface Cleaner
- 2 Cups Distilled Water
- 2 Tablespoon Castile Soap - Available at EW
- 20 drops Lavender Essential Oil (or Peppermint or Orange)
Vinegar Surface Cleaner
- 1 Cup Distilled Water
- 1 Cup White Vinegar
- 1/2 lemon juiced (optional)
- 20 drops Lavender Essential Oil (or Peppermint or Orange)
Instructions
For the castile soap cleaner, pour the water into a 500mL spray bottle (use a funnel, if needed). Add the castile soap and essential oil. Gentle shake the cleaner. This cleaner may be stored at room temperature.
For the vinegar cleaner, pour all the ingredients into a 500mL spray bottle (use a funnel, if needed). Gently shake the cleaner. This cleaner will need to be stored in the fridge between uses due to the fresh lemon juice.
Recipe Notes
DO NOT use the vinegar cleaner on marble or granite as it can etch the surface. The castile soap cleaner may be used on sealed marble or granite. ·
When you introduce water into a product without a preservative you always run the risk of introducing bacteria, so use water-based products quickly.
